What is Influencer Marketing?

To simplify things…it is basically a relationship between a brand and an influencer (hopefully one that is managed by Bloc13 agency!)
The influencer promotes the brands products or services using their various social media platforms like Instagram or Youtube. Popular influencers are known to have a loyal set of followers, and those followers are often the target audience\market of the interested brand. Influencers are often knowledgeable and passionate about the products they are advertising.

Why Is Influencer Marketing So Important?

Once upon a time TV’s were pretty much the only media place where consumers would see advertising and was the main place where brands could deliver their marketing campaigns.
Nowadays with the popularity of the internet and the introduction of social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook or Youtube (unless you live in China off course where most of those are blocked and replaced by ‘local’ equivalents) consumers have a much greater choice over the content they wish to access and view.

Smartphones and tablets making it super easy for everyone…young and old to access everything at home or on the go…
Which gives brands a small headache…their target audience is now spread over multiple platforms and it has become more challenging to reach them…

It allows brands to identify and directly target their audience. Consumers are being constantly challenged and in a world where people increasingly question brand authenticity and marketing tactics (I mean I’m still looking for the washing liquid that will blitz the split Vimto cordial off my favourite Adidas shorts), trust is everything.

Advertising through influencers allows brands to promote through an individual that a has built a ‘community’, where followers watch, engage with and trusts pretty much everything (if only they knew all about these extra filters and face tuning apps…anyway. The followers become potential trusted consumers… if their favourite influencer loves the product…surely they will too.
